Easy Camera Mounting System for the Cirrus

The Halo™ for Cirrus SR Series aircraft from G3 through G6 was designed by a Cirrus pilot to dramatically improve the ways owners, CSIPs and flight schools using the SR Series to train and improve pilot techniques.

Great Flight Training Aid

Flight training can be dramatically improved with each flight being recorded. Each recording can produce valuable de-brief video for the CSIP and the student.

Record your every flight for review and training

Owners and pilots too can keep reviewing their performance by individually debriefing a flight, especially when used in conjunction with tools like CloudAhoy from ForeFlight.

Not just recording your panel, but your actions and flight control inputs as well

Post flight review using the Halo has already helped identify several areas of improvement missed by CSIPs' eyes alone. The Halo is a particularly valuable tool to capture techniques during the landing phase when both the CSIP and student are focused outside the cockpit after 'crossing the numbers'.

The Anatomy of the Halo™

67 Designs constructs the Halo using a combination of industrially printed nylon components along with in-house developed CNC machined aircraft grade aluminum and die cast aluminum components. The frame is installed using 4 x nylon 'posts' designed to fit around the posts closest to the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) handle.

At no time is the frame or the posts contacting the overhead liner below the CAPS placard. At no times is a pilot prevented from free and clear access to the CAPS handle.

Installation

Installation takes less than 5 minutes. The thumb nuts are loosened, the posts clipped around the frame and the thumb nuts re-tightened one by one. After that attach the 67 Designs Ball2Ball™ arm and a GoPro® holder.

Installation is not permanent, requires no tools and can be removed in 5 minutes.

Configurations

Each Halo™ for Cirrus SR Series system is sold via custom invoice and based on the needs of each pilot, CSIP or flight school. The configurations can be as simple as one GoPro® direct to the Halo™ to a dual GoPro®* setup or with alternative mounting elements. (* or similar action camera).

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    • Does this require any modification to my Cirrus?
      • Absolutely not. There are no modifications required to any part of your Cirrus interior.
    • How long does it take to install or uninstall?
      • Less than 3 minutes start to finish.
    • Do I need an A&P or Cirrus certified mechanic to install this?
      • Absolutely not. This is a very simple installation process by design for pilots, CFIs and CSIPs.
    • Is it permanent?
      • Not at all. You can install or uninstall it as you wish.
    • Do I need any tools to install it?
      • Absolutely not. All you really need is a finger and opposable thumb to turn 4 plastic knobs.
    • Does it in any way prevent getting access to the CAPS handle?
      • This was the #1 design constraint - safety of flight and the clearance to the CAPS handle. Note the listing images. The Halo™ frame is quite far away from the hand entry point, but snug enough to the lining without ever touching the lining.
    • Does it require glue to stick to the interior?
      • Not at all. No glue is used and the clips and frame stand off from the interior so there will be no wear on the headlining.
    • Does it require attaching anything to the O2 connector or speaker screws?
      • Not at all. The Halo™ frame is clear of the O2 ports and is far forward of the speaker.
    • Can I use a larger camera than a GoPro® or other action camera, say a DSLR or Red?
      • This is 100% for pilots, CSIPs and flight schools armed with GoPro® cameras and NOT for DSLR, Red or other equipment. Stick to the designed useful load of the Halo being for a maximum of 2 x <175 gram GoPro® or similar items.
    • Instead of a GoPro, can I mount a red light flashlight pointing at the area below the FMS stack for my night flights?
      • Absolutely. 67 Designs has such a Maglite holder for the that which can mount to the Halo™ (67 Designs recommends having at least one Maglite XL50 Spectrum Series LED AAA Red Flashlight for all night flights. Contact customer service for the correct holder for the Halo™ setup)

      Notes & Limitations

      • The Halo is designed to carry a maximum of 2 GoPro or similar weight action cameras weighing maximum of 175 grams (6.17 oz) each.
      • The Halo™ frame and mounting points are not available outside a full configuration.
      • Owner is fully responsible for the correct installation and ensure that at no time any part of the arm and GoPro holder setup can interfere with the pilots ability to grab and activate the CAPS handle in an emergency.
      • Designed and Made in the U.S.A.
      • Patent pending.
